Bevier, Matthew (b. 14 SEP 1825, d. 21 MAR 1899)
Note: During the census of 1850, he resided in Richland County, Cass Township, Ohio. His real property was valued at $2,600 and he was a farmer. He was a "forty-niner" having gone to the California gold rush to try his luck. In 1860, he was living in Marin County, San Rapheal Twp., CA with his wife Phila. He was listed as a farmer. Evidently, three of Phila's siblings were living with them, at this time; Gordon, Udolpha, and John DeWitt. In the census of 1870, Matthew lived in Heartland Township, Huron County, Ohio and was a farmer.

Bevier, James A. (b. 19 OCT 1829, d. 1902)
Note: During the census of 1850, James was living in a hotel in Greenfield Township, Huron County, Ohio. His occupation was listed as wagon master. In 1860, he resided in Venice Township, Seneca County, Ohio, was a laborer and had $525 worth of personal property. In 1880, his wife and two children are in Auburn, New York, but James is not with them. In the Auburn, New York City Directory of 1890, James was listed as a clerk and Phoebe as a dress and cloak maker. In 1891-1892, he was employed by Howe Scale Co. in Rutland, Vermont.

The three first children were probably from a first and unknown marriage of Simion as the dates of birth do not coincide with the date he married Margaret, or her documented age. The family resided in Attica Twp., Seneca County, Ohio in 1880. Margaret's mother, Betsey Bevier, was with them. Simeon was a grocer.
